Giving Back with Good Health: Graphic Screens Adabraka Residents, Enrolls 100+ onto NHIS

Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) has organised its annual free health screening exercise for residents of the Adabraka community in Accra.
The exercise, which has become a key part of the company’s corporate social responsibility activities, saw scores of residents screened for various health conditions, with counselling and medication provided.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Corporate Communications Manager of GCGL, Mavis Kyerewaa Boateng, said the company has supported the Adabraka community with the health initiative for more than 20 years with support from various partners.
She explained that Graphic has been located in Adabraka for 76 years, and the annual health screening forms part of efforts to give back to the community and express appreciation for its continued support and peaceful coexistence.
“This is our way of saying thank you to Adabraka for hosting us for 76 years. For over two decades, we have been consistent with this health screening because we believe the health of our host community matters,” she said.
She added that this year’s exercise is expected to help register more than 100 residents onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable them to access continuous healthcare beyond the screening.
A medical doctor at the Graphic Clinic, Dr. Kwaku Essilfie-Arhin, advised the public to make regular medical check-ups a priority and cautioned against waiting until illnesses become severe before seeking medical attention.
He stressed that early detection remains key to effective treatment and urged Ghanaians to adopt a preventive rather than curative approach to healthcare.
A representative of the NHIS, Michael Lamptey, also encouraged members of the public to take advantage of free health screening exercises and make regular use of hospitals and other health facilities to monitor their health.
He said enrollment onto the NHIS remains crucial in reducing the financial burden associated with accessing healthcare and called on residents to ensure their membership is active.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to GCGL for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.
