NDC came to steal and destroy – Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi, New Juaben MP

New Juaben South Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi, has accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of engaging in propaganda over fuel prices, arguing that the party is now relying on explanations it previously dismissed when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was in power.
According to the MP, the NDC, while in opposition, rejected the NPP government’s explanation that the Russia-Ukraine war was contributing to increases in fuel prices in Ghana.
“When we said Russia and Ukraine were responsible for the adjustment of fuel prices, they asked us how a war happening far away could affect Ghana,” he recalled in an interview on AsaasePa FM, monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
Baafi said the NDC government is now pointing to international tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran as factors contributing to rising fuel prices in Ghana.
He further alleged that members of the opposition are being prevented from openly criticising the government over the situation.
“Now that reality has caught up with them, they are also saying the US, Israel and Iran have burdened fuel prices in Ghana, but they are gagging opposition members from speaking up,” he said.
The New Juaben South MP also accused the NDC government of lacking good intentions for the country and criticised what he described as its approach to governance.
“Their approach in running the country is to steal, kill and destroy,” Baafi stated.
