“This Is Not The Time For Try And Error – I’ve Done It Before And I Can Do It Again” – Pope Urges Youth Delegates To Give Him Mandate

Aspiring National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Michael Osei Boateng, popularly known as Pope, says delegates should vote for the one who can help them mobilize and fight for power for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP in 2028.

Speaking to the media after his vetting at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Pope said the vetting process was smooth because he had been through it before as Deputy Youth Organiser in 2014.

“It started when we were Deputy Youth Organiser, we went through vetting in December 2014, so we went through the same process, so it was okay,” he said.

On his message to youth delegates ahead of the October 3 conference in Kumasi, Pope said his mantra is simple – to win 2028.

“They should vote for the one who can help them mobilize, who can help them fight for power for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and NPP come 2028. My mantra is to win 2028 because for any and every political party, your main vision, your aim is to get political power. And 2028 is where we can get political power. So for me, when I get the opportunity, the main aim is to mobilize the youth, organize them very well for us to go in 2028 and win political power for the NPP and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he stated.

Pope, who says he has risen through the ranks of the party’s mobilisation sector, believes this is not the time for experiments.

“I want to tell them that I have passed through the ranks of the party mobilisation sector. I’ve been Deputy Regional Youth Organiser, Regional Youth Organiser, Regional Organiser, SRC President. So I’ve worked with all the sectors before. I’ve tried a lot of strategies that worked. This is not the time for us to do try and error. This is not the time for us to try someone to see if he can do it or he cannot. I’ve done it before. It means I can do it again. So they should give me the opportunity to lead them to victory in 2028,” he said.

On how he intends to resource the youth wing, Pope said he has experience mobilizing resources from his time as a youth organiser in opposition.

“I’ve been a youth organiser in opposition before, and I know how we got the resources to fight the NDC and bring the party to power. For that we know, and when I meet the delegates, I will tell them. This is a media station and I wouldn’t reveal strategies to the NDC. I’ll just tell my people when I meet them one-on-one,” he added.

Michael Osei Boateng (Pope) is among the aspirants contesting for the National Youth Organiser position of the NPP, considered a critical position in the party’s quest to reclaim power in 2028.

The NPP will hold its National Delegates Conference on October 3, 2026 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to elect new national executives.
