Aspiring National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, Ing. Kwame Amo Prempeh, popularly known as KP or KAY-PEE, says the atmosphere during his vetting was friendly and positive, describing the process as a home affair.
Speaking to journalists after his vetting at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, Ing. Prempeh said there was nothing to be intimidated about.
“It was very friendly, very positive. The atmosphere was very good. I mean, nothing to be intimidated about. It was okay. This is a home affair. You know, we are doing our internal election. It’s a home affair, so it was okay. It was very good,” he said.
The Aerospace Engineer Turned Strategist
Ing. Kwame Prempeh brings almost two decades of experience as a strategist and implementer who has transformed projects and organisations across Europe, North America, South America and Africa.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Engineering Studies from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Hertfordshire University in the UK.
He worked for KLM Engineering and Maintenance between 2007 and 2009 before transitioning into IT and Procurement Consultancy with global giant Accenture in 2010. Between 2010 and 2016, he was a consultant on global projects for multinationals including the European Space Agency (the NASA of Europe), ASML, Unilever, Akzo Nobel and FrieslandCampina. From 2016 to 2017, he was in-charge of the global procurement systems of Heineken International.
From 2018 to 2025, Ing. Prempeh served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), where he championed the nationwide roll-out of government’s flagship Ghana Electronic Procurement System (GHANEPS) under the Digitalization Agenda of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He was also a member of the Central Tender Review Committee (CTRC) from 2022 to 2025 and Chairman of its Technical Sub-committee, and represented Ghana in the African Public Procurement Network from 2020 to 2025.
He is a member of the Ghana Institute of Engineering, the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply – UK and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He is also a coconut farmer and an entrepreneur.
Political Trajectory Rooted In Grassroots
Born on January 20, 1983 and raised in Akwatia Line, Kumasi, Ing. Prempeh attended Kings International School and Prempeh College JHS. He hails from Asokore in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region, Effiduase-Asokore Constituency.
He rose through the ranks to become Chairman of NPP Holland Branch at age 32 in 2014 and was a key coordinator of External Branches. He hosted the NPP International conference in Amsterdam in 2015 and was instrumental in the 2016 campaign both in the diaspora and Ghana, co-coordinating the adoption of constituencies by external branches.
In 2017, he was a lead consultant on the team that collated election results for the Unity Party during the Liberia general elections.
In 2020, Ing. Prempeh championed the establishment of the largest male volunteer group in the NPP – the Alpha Patriots – which operates across all regions, and is currently Chairman of its Executive Council. With Alpha Patriots and Loyal Ladies, he campaigned across the country providing resources to several constituencies.
For the 2024 elections, he was a member of the national volunteer coordinating team, was in charge of the Street Visibility, Activation & Invasion campaign in Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions, and was Campaign Manager for Bantama Constituency, one of the NPP’s prominent strongholds.
Described as a dynamic, seasoned grassroots mobiliser with an open-door policy for party foot soldiers, Ing. Prempeh is a family-oriented man, a devoted husband and father to three girls, and a dedicated Methodist.
The PEM Vision To Cut The 8
The core message of Ing. Prempeh, who is well known in party circles as KP, is centered on professionalizing the organizational wing of the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
“I think my whole message is centered on professionalization of the organizational wing of the party. We need to do things strategically. We need to do things in an innovative way. You know, 2028 will not be the same as all the other elections we’ve had. 2028 is going to be tough,” he stated.
According to him, the 2028 elections will be unprecedented because the NPP will be attempting to stop the NDC from doing 8 years in power, after failing to break the 8 in 2024.
“Don’t forget, we are trying to do something that has not been done before. We tried to break the eight in 2024. Now we are trying to make sure that the NDC does not go to eight. We are going to cut the eight. That is also a big challenge. So we have to be strategic and innovative,” he explained.
Ing. Prempeh is selling what he calls the PEM Vision – Plan, Equip, Mobilize – as the blueprint to reorganize and energize the base.
“That’s why I’m presenting the PEM vision – Plan, Equip, Mobilize. We need to ensure that we have strategic plans in place before we even get on the field. We have to ensure that we equip ourselves properly with resources, with knowledge, also in terms of security, and then mobilize ourselves on the grounds. Ensure we start the mobilization from home, and then we can get others to join us. Also, manage our stakeholders well. So my message is simple: professionalization of the party based on PEM – Plan, Equip, Mobilize,” he stressed.
The NPP will hold its National Delegates Conference on October 3, 2026 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to elect new national executives to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
