Benjamin Armah Withdraws From Western North NPP Regional Chair Race, Backs McDaniels Nyame
Hon. Benjamin Armah has withdrawn from the race for Western North Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and has declared his full support for Mr. McDaniels Nyame ahead of the forthcoming regional elections.
In a statement released in Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Armah said the decision was taken “after deep reflection, extensive consultations with family and friends and the broader interests of the NPP in the Western North Region.”
“Our Collective Interest Must Rise Above Individual Ambition”
According to Hon. Armah, the decision was not taken lightly. He said it was informed by the need to place unity, stability, and strategic strength of the Party above personal ambition at this critical stage.
“This is a moment for unity, not division; consolidation, not fragmentation; and collective purpose, not personal ambition,” he stated.
He expressed deep appreciation to party members across the region, particularly Constituency Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, Polling Station Executives, delegates, grassroots activists, elders, and patrons who supported his candidature.
Endorses McDaniels Nyame For Regional Chair
Following consultations with key stakeholders, Hon. Armah said he will offer his “full and unequivocal support” to Mr. McDaniels Nyame.
He described Mr. Nyame as a dedicated party man with proven loyalty to NPP traditions and values, organisational competence, and political maturity.
“Having had the opportunity to work closely with Mr. McDaniels Nyame over the years, I have witnessed at first hand his dedication to the NPP… I am persuaded that he possesses the temperament, experience, organisational capacity, and leadership qualities required to consolidate our gains, heal divisions where they exist, energise our grassroots, and provide the strategic direction necessary to reposition the Western North Region for the political tasks ahead,” he said.
Hon. Armah therefore called on all his supporters, delegates, and party executives who stood with him to “transfer their confidence, energy, and support to Mr. McDaniels Nyame.”
“Withdrawal Is Not Withdrawal From Service”
The former Sefwi Wiawso MP assured that his withdrawal does not mean he is stepping away from party work.
“My withdrawal from this contest does not represent a withdrawal from service to our Party. On the contrary, I remain fully committed to the New Patriotic Party and shall continue to serve, in whatever capacity necessary, with dedication, humility, loyalty, and integrity,” he stressed.
He concluded with a call for unity in the region and set sights on the 2028 elections:
“Together, let us strengthen our Party. Together, let us unite the Western North Region. Together, let us rebuild for victory in 2028.”
The Western North NPP is expected to hold its Regional Executive elections in the coming weeks as the party begins reorganizing ahead of the 2028 general elections.
