The NPP Spain Branch Executives Election held on 25th July 2026 in Logroño is facing a legitimacy crisis after 7 chapter chairmen announced a boycott of the process and are now demanding that the results be nullified and fresh elections conducted.
In a formal notice addressed to the Election Committee and National Headquarters, the chairmen said they took the decision after “extensive consultations with members across the various chapters.”
Grounds for Boycott and Nullification Call
The signatories listed 7 principal concerns that informed their decision to boycott:
1. Significant irregularities in the electoral process
2. Manipulation and inconsistent application of approved election guidelines
3. Lack of transparency in the compilation and verification of the voter register
4. Failure to provide equal opportunity and fair treatment to all qualified candidates and delegates
5. Inadequate consultation with chapter leadership on key electoral decisions
6. Actions and directives that appear to prejudice the process in favour of a particular group
7. Conduct that undermines fairness, impartiality, accountability, and the spirit of the NPP Constitution
“We firmly believe that the current electoral arrangements do not reflect the democratic values, unity, integrity, and grassroots participation upon which the New Patriotic Party was founded,” the statement said.
The leaders argued that proceeding with the election under these conditions “has produced an outcome that lacks legitimacy and may further deepen divisions within the Spain Branch.”
5 Demands to National Headquarters
To resolve the impasse, the chapter leaders are asking National Headquarters and the Election Committee to take immediate steps:
1. Nullify the results of the election held on 25 July 2026
2. Constitute an independent review of the electoral process and all related complaints
3. Conduct a comprehensive audit of the voter register and delegate accreditation procedures
4. Engage all chapter leadership in a transparent and inclusive consultative process
5. Establish clear, enforceable, and uniformly applied electoral guidelines before announcing a new election date
“Until these concerns are adequately addressed, our chapters and members will not recognize the outcome of the said election,” the notice stated.

The petition was signed by chairmen representing major NPP chapters in Spain:

– Kyeremeh Alexander – Chairman, Girona Chapter
– Christina Nana Yaa Acheampong – Chairperson, Alcalá de Henares Chapter
The group said their position is “motivated solely by our commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the New Patriotic Party” and ensuring that any election in the Spain Branch is “credible, transparent, free, and fair.”
“We trust that the National Leadership will treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves and take the necessary measures to restore confidence in the electoral process,” they concluded.
What This Means for NPP Abroad
The Spain Branch is one of the NPP’s active diaspora branches in Europe, with responsibility for mobilizing support, fundraising, and policy advocacy for the Party.
Internal disputes in NPP branches abroad have in the past affected coordination and resource mobilization ahead of general elections.
As of press time, the NPP National Headquarters and the Election Committee had not issued an official response to the demand for nullification.
With tensions high, pressure is mounting on Party leadership to intervene to prevent a fractured process in one of its key European branches.
