Wontumi is not a political prisoner but a convicted criminal who was convicted based on the law –  Mahmoud Kabore

Mahmoud Kabore, spokesperson to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has rejected claims that Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is a political prisoner.

Speaking on Kessben FM, Kabore stated that Wontumi is “not a political prisoner” but “a common criminal who has been convicted based on the laws.” He argued that the legal process should be respected and that court decisions should not be politicized.

Kabore maintained that Ghana’s justice system operates independently and that individuals found guilty of offences are held accountable under the law, regardless of their political affiliation. He urged the public to allow the courts to carry out their mandate without undue political interference.
