Education Ministry Presses Police to Fast-Track Arrest of Fugitive Bole SHS Teacher

The Ministry of Education has renewed its call on the Ghana Police Service to step up efforts to locate and arrest an interdicted teacher from Bole Senior High School, who remains at large weeks after police declared him wanted.

The teacher is accused of engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with a student in the school’s science laboratory, an incident that triggered public outrage and led police to launch a nationwide manhunt.

In a statement issued Tuesday, July 14, 2026, and signed by Deputy Education Minister Dr Clement Abas Apaak, the Ministry said it was troubled that the suspect had not yet been apprehended given the seriousness of the allegations and the level of public attention the case has drawn.

The Ministry pointed to a recent media interview in which the teacher reportedly described his conduct as unintentional and asked for a transfer to a rural school. According to the Ministry, this interview should give investigators a useful lead, and it urged police to use digital tracking methods and to work with the media house that conducted the interview to help trace him.

The statement rejected the teacher’s claim that his actions were not deliberate, saying the Ministry has information indicating the conduct was intentional. It further alleged that other videos have surfaced showing the same teacher behaving inappropriately with additional female students, and accused him of abusing his position to exploit vulnerable students.

The Ministry reiterated Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu’s earlier description of the incident as unacceptable and out of step with the standards expected of teachers, and voiced confidence in the police’s ability to track the suspect down. It appealed to the public to come forward with any information on his whereabouts.

The statement also addressed a wider concern about rising indiscipline among teachers, school heads and students nationwide, noting that such conduct damages the credibility of Ghana’s schools. The Minister has directed the Ghana Education Service to take firm action against misconduct in pre-tertiary institutions, and the Ministry announced plans for a national dialogue bringing stakeholders together to address discipline issues in schools.
