Gold Fields And World Vision Hand Over Solar Water System To Damang Community

Thousands Of Residents In Damang, Tarkwa Municipality, Now Have Reliable Access To Safe Drinking Water Following The Handover Of A New Sustainable Water Supply System By The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation And World Vision Ghana.

The Project Was Officially Handed Over To The Community On 9th July, 2026, After Months Of Construction And Community Engagement.

What The New System Includes

The Damang Water Supply System Was Delivered Under A Memorandum Of Understanding Signed By The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation And World Vision Ghana In 2024.

The Facility Comprises:
– Newly Drilled And Rehabilitated Boreholes
– A 100-Cubic-Metre Reservoir
– A Solar-Powered Pumping System
– An Extensive Water Distribution Network
– Strategically Located Standpipes And Household Connections
– Dedicated Water Supply To Schools And Healthcare Facilities

According To The Project Team, Over 200 Homes Have Already Been Linked To The Network. The System Is Expected To Benefit Thousands Of Residents Across Households, Schools, Health Facilities And Public Spaces.

Project Officials Say The New System Will Contribute To Improved Public Health, Strengthen Healthcare Delivery, And Reduce The Time Spent Collecting Water, Particularly For Women And Children.

Sustainability And Community Ownership

Beyond The Infrastructure, The Project Places Strong Emphasis On Long-Term Sustainability.

Governance Structures And Training Have Been Put In Place To Ensure The Community Has The Capacity To Effectively Manage And Maintain The System For Generations.
