NPP Sets July 19 Deadline For Chapter Elections Ahead Of August 8 Branch Polls

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all its branches nationwide to ensure that Chapter Elections are conducted on or before Sunday, July 19, 2026, as part of the party’s roadmap to the 2026 Internal Elections.

In an advisory dated July 8, 2026, and signed by the Director Of Finance And Administration, William Yamoah, the party warned that any Chapter that fails to meet the deadline will be ineligible to participate in the Branch Elections scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026.

Strict Compliance Directive To Branches

The advisory, with reference NPP/HQ/2026/07/08/GS, was addressed to Branch Steering Committees through Branch Secretaries across the country.

“Pursuant to the rules and regulations governing the Party’s 2026 Internal Elections, as duly approved by the National Council, you are hereby advised to ensure that all Chapter Elections within your Branch are duly conducted on or before Sunday, 19 July 2026” the letter stated.

The Director further urged Branch leadership to bring the contents of the advisory to the *immediate attention of all Chapter Executive Committees and to ensure strict compliance with the directive.

“Kindly note that any Chapter that fails to conduct its elections within the stipulated period shall, in accordance with the approved rules and regulations, be ineligible to participate in the Branch Elections scheduled for Saturday, 8 August 2026,” it added.

Part Of 2026 Internal Elections Roadmap

The directive forms part of the NPP’s timetable toward electing new executives at the Chapter, Branch, Constituency, Regional, and National levels ahead of the 2028 General Elections.

Chapter elections are the first stage of the party’s internal polls and form the foundation for subsequent Branch and Constituency elections. Delegates elected at the Chapter level go on to vote in higher-level elections.

By setting July 19 as the cut-off date, the National Council seeks to ensure there is enough time for collation, verification, and resolution of disputes before the August 8 Branch Elections.

Party Urges Cooperation

Mr. Yamoah, who signed the letter in his capacity as National Representative, expressed appreciation to party officers for their commitment to constitutional processes.

“We greatly appreciate your anticipated cooperation and commitment to the Party’s constitutional processes,” he said.

He also assured that the National Headquarters remains available to support Branches that may require guidance in organizing their elections.
