GES Recruitment 2026: Shortlist Out July 20, Successful Applicants Start Aug 31

Service says application review will be completed by June 30 as thousands await teaching jobs

The Ghana Education Service has released the official timeline for its 2026 recruitment, with shortlisted candidates to be announced on July 20 and successful applicants expected to assume duty on August 31.

In a press release signed by Deputy Director-General (MS) Prof. Smile Dzisi, GES said it is “currently reviewing all applications received to ensure that they satisfy the eligibility requirements outlined in the recruitment advertisement.”

Key dates for applicants:
1. By June 30, 2026: Review of all applications completed
2. By July 20, 2026: Announcement of shortlisted candidates
3. July 20 – Aug 31, 2026: Onboarding process at Regional and District levels
4. August 31, 2026: Successful applicants assume duty

GES expressed appreciation to all applicants for their interest in “serving the nation through the Service” and urged patience as the process continues.

The announcement comes as thousands of graduates and trained teachers have applied for teaching positions across basic and second cycle schools. Previous recruitment exercises have faced delays, so the clear timeline will be welcome news for applicants waiting to start work.

What happens next
If you applied, GES says the review stage runs until June 30. Only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria in the original advert will move to the shortlist. Those shortlisted will then go through onboarding at their respective regional and district education offices throughout August before posting to schools.

For updates, applicants are advised to monitor the GES website http://www.ges.gov.gh or contact the Public Relations Unit at info@ges.gov.gh.

GES concluded: “The Service appreciates your patience and understanding throughout the recruitment process and wishes all applicants the very best.”
