The Ghana Grid Company LTD. (GRIDCo) has announced that it will undertake emergency maintenance works at the Smelter II Substation in Tema on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, as part of efforts to improve power supply reliability and strengthen the resilience of the national transmission network.

According to a press statement issued by the company’s Corporate Communications Section, the maintenance exercise is scheduled to take place between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

GRIDCo explained that the urgent works are necessary to ensure the continued stability and efficiency of electricity transmission within the affected areas and across the national grid.

The company indicated that some customers and residents in parts of Tema may experience temporary interruptions in electricity supply during the maintenance period.

“GRIDCo regrets the inconvenience this essential maintenance exercise may cause and assures the public that its engineers and technical teams will work diligently to complete the works within the shortest possible time and restore power supply promptly,” the statement said.

The company also appealed to affected customers for understanding and cooperation as the maintenance works are carried out.
