A fruit seller identified as Cecelia narrowly escaped death on Monday afternoon after a huge tree suddenly collapsed at Kwabenya Point One, opposite the former Makers House Chapel.
The frightening incident occurred around 4:00 pm shortly after a heavy downpour in the area.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Maurice Otoo of Kessben Digital Media, Cecelia recounted the terrifying moment, saying she had been selling under the tree for nearly two decades without any incident.
“I was sitting by my fruits under the tree after the rain when I suddenly heard a clicking sound. I got up to check whether it was coming from my table, and immediately the tree fell exactly where I had been sitting,” she narrated.
According to her, the incident could have turned tragic if she had delayed for even a few seconds.
Cecelia further revealed that she normally stays at the spot with her children while selling, but fortunately, none of them were present when the tree collapsed.
Residents and passersby who witnessed the incident described it as miraculous, with many expressing shock over how narrowly the trader escaped death.
The fallen tree temporarily disrupted movement in the area as residents gathered at the scene following the incident.
