NDC’s 24-Hour markets could become white elephants like NPP’s 1D1F – Wofa Kofi Appiah

Wofa Kofi has expressed doubts about the sustainability of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s proposed 24-hour market policy, warning that the initiative could end up as “white elephants” similar to some projects under the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

Speaking on Kessben FM, Wofa Kofi stated that although the construction of 24-hour markets may be possible, maintaining and ensuring their long-term productivity could become a major challenge.

He compared the proposal to the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative introduced by the erstwhile New Patriotic Party administration, arguing that several projects under the programme failed to meet expectations or remain fully operational.

According to him, governments must focus not only on launching ambitious projects but also on creating practical systems that guarantee sustainability, job creation, and economic impact.
