Fisheries Minister Emelia Arthur Begins 6-Day Tour of Inland Fishing Communities

The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Emelia Arthur, will begin a six-day working tour of inland fisheries communities nationwide from Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The tour aims to deepen engagement with stakeholders, assess key facilities, and gather firsthand information on the state of Ghana’s inland fisheries subsector, the Ministry announced Monday.

According to the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, insights from the tour will help shape discussions at the upcoming Inland Fisheries Conference.

Hon. Arthur is expected to visit selected communities across the Greater Accra, Volta, Oti, Bono East, Savanna, and Ashanti Regions. During the tour, she will interact with fishers, inspect infrastructure, and take part in a strategic planning session in Techiman.

“The initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that policies are informed by the experiences and needs of inland fishing communities,” the statement said.

The Ministry is encouraging stakeholders and the general public to participate in the engagements.

The tour begins Wednesday, May 6, and runs through next week.
