Rice is like cocaine at the Kumasi Central Prisons, the common foods are Banku and Gari – Mansa Musa
Celebrity prison officer, popularly known as Mansa Musa, has revealed that rice as a rare and highly prized commodity among inmates at the Kumasi Central Prison.
Speaking on Kessben Drive with Fante Quoo on Kessben FM, Mansa Musa remarked that “rice is like cocaine” within the prison, emphasizing how scarce and valued it is among prisoners.
According to him, the common meals served at the facility are mainly banku and gari, which form the staple diet for most inmates. He explained that rice is not frequently available, making it a luxury that many prisoners hardly get to enjoy.
Mansa Musa used the analogy to highlight the living conditions within the prison and to draw attention to the need for improved welfare and nutrition for inmates.
