Kofi Tonto Criticizes President Mahama Over Galamsey Campaign Failures

Kofi Tonto, aide to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, has criticized the efforts of President John Dramani Mahama to combat illegal mining activities (galamsey), calling the President’s campaign “a complete failure.”
In an interview on JoyNews’, Tonto expressed his frustration, stating that President Mahama’s fight against galamsey has been “a disgrace,” given the significant resources available to the administration.
He emphasized that with all the tools at his disposal, President Mahama has failed to address the growing crisis of illegal mining in Ghana.
Tonto went on to accuse the Mahama administration of setting a poor example for local government officials, particularly District Chief Executives (DCEs), in the management of mining operations.
