Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for Ghana’s ongoing development progress, highlighting advances in infrastructure expansion, digital transformation, and reforms aimed at building a knowledge-driven economy.
Speaking at a state banquet held in honour of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa,He underscored growing cooperation between African states, President Mnangagwa described Ghana’s development trajectory under President Mahama as “highly commendable and forward-looking.”
“My dear brother, I extend my warm congratulations to you and, through you, to the government and people of Ghana for the ongoing infrastructure development, as well as the transformative policies that leverage a knowledge-driven economy and cutting-edge technologies for the efficient delivery of social services in Ghana,” he said.
He added that Ghana’s policy direction reflects a strong commitment to modernization and long-term prosperity, noting that Zimbabwe shares similar ambitions under its own national transformation agenda.
“Your commitment to propel Ghana to new levels of development and prosperity is extremely admirable. My administration shares a similar resolve to transform Zimbabwe’s economy into an upper middle-income society by 2030,” Mnangagwa stated.
The Zimbabwean leader emphasized the importance of African self-reliance in development, stressing that while international partnerships remain important, African countries must take primary responsibility for their transformation agenda.
“We, the citizens of our countries, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Africa, have a duty and responsibility to develop, modernize and industrialize our countries and the African continent ourselves,” he said.
He further noted that external partners and investors should play a supportive and complementary role rather than dictate development priorities.
“Partners and investors, well wishers and others, can only assist and complement our own efforts based, however, on our own defined priorities, our own goals and our own vision,” he added.
