Ato Forson Emerges Strong Contender as NDC Flagbearer Race Heats Up — Polls Suggest
Story: Maurice Otoo

Political analyst Musah Danquah of Global InfoAnalytics has indicated that the race for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership is shaping up to be highly competitive, with several prominent figures expected to contest.
According to Musah Danquah’s insights shared on Kessben TV’s Digest, Mr Asiedu Nketia is widely anticipated to contest; however, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is also being strongly tipped as a potential contender who could significantly influence the race considering the position he is holding.
Other notable figures, including Haruna Iddrisu and Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, are also expected to enter the contest, making the field increasingly competitive.
Danquah noted that while additional candidates may emerge, these four individuals currently stand out as the leading contenders.
Polling data collected between January 2025 and December 2025 suggests that the Agriculture Minister, Eric Opoku has gained some popularity though, but securing less than 5% support among the general public and even within NDC party ranks.
Despite this, analysts believe
“Realistically, it could be a top cell for delegates to elect Haruna Iddrisu, but it is not impossible for him to emerge victorious,” Danquah indicated.
The NDC flagbearer race is expected to intensify in the coming months as candidates position themselves ahead of the party’s internal elections.
