Customers can also report customers at PURC, if you see a co-tenant or landlord ‘chopping’ light bill or water bill money – PURC

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) in the Ashanti Region has urged consumers to report any fraudulent practices related to utility bills, including electricity and water payments.
Speaking on Kessben FM with host Wofa Kofi Appiah, Edward Bodua, PURC Ashanti Regional Manager, advised residents to be vigilant and report co-tenants, landlords, or others who may be misappropriating or “chopping” money meant for utility bills.
“Customers can report to PURC if you see a co-tenant or landlord misappropriating light bill or water bill money,” Mr. Bodua stated.
He explained that the Commission takes such complaints seriously and encourages all consumers to ensure transparency and accountability in the payment of utilities. According to him, timely reporting helps protect both individual consumers and the broader community from unfair practices.
Mr. Bodua reassured the public that PURC has systems in place to investigate complaints and take necessary action against offenders, emphasizing the importance of cooperation from residents in promoting integrity within the utilities sector.
The announcement comes as part of PURC’s ongoing effort to strengthen consumer protection and ensure that utility payments are properly managed across the Ashanti Region.
