Callers reject planned SIM Re-Registration exercise on Kessben FM

Some callers on Kessben FM’s Maakye have expressed strong opposition to plans to begin another SIM card re-registration exercise under the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

During discussions on the station’s morning programme, several callers questioned the need for a new registration process when a nationwide exercise had already been conducted during the administration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to them, many Ghanaians had previously spent time and resources to register their SIM cards, and repeating the process would be unnecessary and inconvenient.

“Why do they keep wasting our time like that?” one caller asked, arguing that the earlier exercise should still be valid.

Others also raised concerns about the potential long queues and the inconvenience the process could cause if it is implemented nationwide again.

The callers therefore urged authorities to reconsider the move and instead focus on improving systems already put in place to manage SIM card registration and verification.

The issue of SIM registration has remained a major public discussion point in Ghana, as governments seek to strengthen digital security, curb fraud, and improve the regulation of telecommunications services.
