NPP Government would have maintained cocoa price despite global market drop – Hon. Elvis Mensah Dapaah
The Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Elvis Mensah Dapaah, has stated that a New Patriotic Party (NPP) government would have found ways to maintain cocoa prices for farmers despite the recent decline in prices on the world market.
Speaking on Kessben FM with host Wofa Kofi Appiah, the MP emphasized that the NPP has always prioritized the welfare of cocoa farmers and would have taken measures to protect their income.
According to Hon. Mensah Dapaah, governments have a responsibility to cushion farmers from the effects of fluctuations in the global cocoa market.
He explained that with proper financial planning and policy direction, an NPP administration would have ensured that cocoa farmers continued to receive favorable prices for their produce.
The Ahafo Ano South West legislator further stressed that cocoa remains one of Ghana’s most important economic commodities, and policies must always be geared towards supporting the farmers who sustain the industry.
