Dollar and fuel going down under NDC Gov’t: Only a few are benefiting – Dr Keskine Owusu Opoku

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Keskine Owusu Opoku, has questioned the impact of recent economic gains under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
Speaking on Kessben Maakye with Wofa Kofi Appiah, Dr. Opoku acknowledged reports that the dollar exchange rate and fuel prices have seen some decline. However, he argued that the benefits of these developments are not being widely felt by ordinary Ghanaians.
According to him, “the dollar and fuel may be going down, but it’s only a few people who are benefiting.” He suggested that while macroeconomic indicators may show signs of improvement, the cost of living and general economic pressures remain high for many citizens.
Dr. Opoku further maintained that economic recovery should translate into visible relief for households and small businesses, not just improved statistics. His comments add to the ongoing political debate over the true state of the economy and whether recent changes are having a meaningful impact on the broader population.
