Dumsor is not back – ECG Ashanti West PRO apologises for recent power cuts

Benjamin Obeng, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in Ashanti West, has apologised to customers over the recent power outages but insists that “dumsor” has not returned.

Speaking on Kessben Maakye with Wofa Kofi Appiah, Mr. Obeng acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the intermittent power cuts in parts of the Ashanti Region. However, he was quick to assure the public that the situation does not signal a return to the prolonged and erratic power crisis popularly known as dumsor.

According to him, the recent outages are largely due to technical challenges, maintenance works, and system improvement exercises aimed at strengthening power distribution in the region. He explained that such interruptions are sometimes necessary to ensure long-term stability and improved service delivery.

Mr. Obeng appealed to residents to remain calm and patient as ECG works to address the issues. He emphasised the company’s commitment to providing reliable electricity supply and improving infrastructure to minimise future disruptions.
