Renaming Our International Airport Is a Big Step In Consolidating Our Democracy – CPP

Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah was asked what in his view is the best way to fight Corruption and his answer was, *TO BUILD A STRONG PUBLIC OPINION AGAINST IT*
And he was right as he is right today, the only was to fight the vices in our society is to let the people come to accept that, those vices are unacceptable by LAW, our CULTURE and Conventional PRACTICES.

The name of Emmanuel E.K Kotoka for a long time should been used to illustrate and describe TRAITORS and INSUBORDINATE OFFICERS in the Security Services, like “Kwame Tua” in the Asante history.

Mr Kotoka was an officer with the Ghana armed forces who took the Democratic Will of the People through the barrel of the gun when he led a needless Coup in 1966.

The Coup was the first to happen in this country and it chartered a very bad example, because it emboldened Soldiers to feel like they can overthrow Democratic Republics just because they carry guns.

From the bad example and precedence of E.K Kotoka, the Second Republic and the Third Republic were ceased by Soldiers.

This bad example of taking power by force has separated families, led to lost of lives, torture of innocent people, lost of properties among other things usually base on false assumptions and accusations with the toppled government officers suffering unjustly.

With most the countries in our sub-region becoming a military led governments, it is important to safe guard our Democracy which was unanimously accepted through a Referendum in 1992.

The CPP through this Press release applauds His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and his government for this bold move.

The CPP further request that Mr Emmanuel Kotoka and all his allies in the 1966 coup be DE-RANKED to the position of a corporals to deter Armed Services personal who will dare think of changing the Will of the people.

Again the CPP want all Coup plotters who overthrew constitutional governments from the first Republic to the Third Republic *De-Ranked*

Again all state monuments like buildings, streets, road and images be removed as soon as possible.

We believe this bold decisions will be deterring enough to Brand our dear Mother Ghana as a *No Coup de’tat* zone.
