NPP UK Congratulates Bawumia on Victory in Presidential Primaries

The United Kingdom branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP UK) has congratulated Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on his decisive victory in the party’s just-ended presidential primaries.

In a press statement dated February 1, 2024, and signed by its Communications Directorate, NPP UK described Dr Bawumia’s win as a clear reflection of the confidence party delegates and members have in his leadership, vision, and competence.

According to the statement, the outcome of the primaries demonstrates strong trust in Dr Bawumia’s ability to lead the NPP into the next general election with a renewed sense of purpose and strategic direction.

NPP UK also commended the other aspirants who contested the primaries, noting that their participation enriched internal party debate, strengthened grassroots engagement, and highlighted the party’s commitment to democratic principles.

“Their statesmanship, maturity, and prompt acceptance of the results, as well as their pledge to support the flagbearer, reflect the spirit of unity, loyalty, and patriotism that defines the NPP,” the statement said.

The party’s UK branch further emphasised that the conduct of the primaries once again underscored the NPP’s tradition of internal democracy, cohesion, and respect for due process.

Reflecting on the party’s political history, NPP UK expressed confidence that the party remains resilient and capable of rebuilding and returning stronger, drawing on its experience of moving from opposition to electoral victory.

It stated that Dr Bawumia is well positioned to lead the party toward success in the upcoming national elections.

While celebrating the outcome of the primaries, NPP UK urged party members in Ghana and across the diaspora to exercise restraint and conduct celebrations with dignity, noting that the focus must now shift to the broader national campaign.

“The NPP has won an internal contest; the bigger task ahead is winning the confidence of the Ghanaian people,” the statement added.

The party called on all members to rally behind Dr Bawumia and work collectively to secure victory for the NPP in the next general election.
