Most of the negative narratives about the Ghanaian politicians today start internally during primaries – George Kwarteng

George Kwarteng, an Operations Assistant witht Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, has observed that many of the negative narratives surrounding Ghanaian politicians often originate internally, particularly during party primaries.

Speaking on Kessben FM, He said, internal contests have increasingly become breeding grounds for attacks, misinformation, and character assassination, which later spill into the national political discourse.

Speaking in the context of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries, Kwarteng called on aspirants and their supporters to prioritize decency, unity, and issue-based campaigning. He stressed that harsh rhetoric and internal divisions not only weaken the party but also provide ammunition for political opponents, ultimately damaging public trust in leadership.

Kwarteng emphasized that healthy competition does not require personal attacks or destructive tactics. He urged party members to remember that primaries are a means of selecting leaders, not destroying reputations. By fostering respectful engagement and focusing on competence and vision, he noted, the NPP can emerge stronger and present a more united front ahead of national elections.
