Okaikwei North MP, Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni, inspects GARID road projects

Okaikwei North MP, Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni, has inspected the GARID road projects funded by the World Bank in Nii Boiman and Akweteyman electoral areas. The inspection covered 4.5 kilometers of roads under construction in areas like Nii Boiman, High Tension, Transformer Akweteyman Zongo, and Iran Clinic Monaco.
Hon. Awuni emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the road network, stating it’s a priority to raise the standard of living for constituents. She urged residents to keep faith with the government, noting the “Big Push” declaration as the year of roads is aimed at tackling deplorable roads nationwide.
Residents praised the President for development projects, believing they’ll transform the municipality and boost the local economy. They appealed for speed ramps to curb accidents. First Sky Construction Limited’s Environmental Health and Safety Manager, Richard Nkrumah, said the project started in 2023 and speed ramps will be included in phase two. He appealed to the MP and MCE to help evict mechanics occupying road spaces.
The GARID project, a US$200 million initiative, aims to enhance flood risk management, solid waste management, and improve basic infrastructure in the Odaw River Basin communities.
