Dr. Ekua Amoakoh, Deputy Spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pointed to the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme as clear evidence of Dr. Bawumia’s problem-solving abilities and economic leadership.
Speaking on Kessben FM’s Amansan Tie with host KOD, Dr. Amoakoh stated that the success of the initiative demonstrates the former Vice President’s capacity to identify critical challenges and implement practical solutions. According to her, the programme has helped strengthen Ghana’s foreign exchange position and stabilize the local currency by leveraging the country’s gold resources.
She explained that before the introduction of the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme, Ghana faced significant pressure on its forex reserves. However, the policy has enabled the Bank of Ghana to purchase gold locally, reducing reliance on foreign currency for gold accumulation and improving macroeconomic stability.
Dr. Amoakoh emphasized that the programme is not just a policy idea but a working solution with measurable impact, reflecting Dr. Bawumia’s results-oriented approach to governance. She argued that such initiatives set him apart as a leader who focuses on implementation rather than rhetoric.
She urged Ghanaians to assess leadership based on tangible outcomes, noting that the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme stands as a strong demonstration of Dr. Bawumia’s ability to solve complex national problems.
