MUYAD Social Services Condemns Inclusion of LGBTQI Topics in Ghana SHS Curriculum

MUYAD Social Services has issued a strong statement condemning the inclusion of LGBTQI ideologies in Ghana’s Senior High School (SHS) curriculum, particularly the definition of ‘gender’. The organization describes this move as “unacceptable and contrary to Ghanaian values and laws”.
In a press release signed by Executive Director Adnan Adams Mohammed on January 15, 2026, MUYAD Social Services emphasized that Ghana does not recognize or entertain LGBTQI lifestyles and urged authorities to uphold the country’s national stance. “The attempt to introduce LGBTQI concepts in our schools is a threat to our cultural heritage and societal norms,” the statement read.
The organization demanded the immediate dismissal of the head of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NACCA) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) official responsible for the inclusion of LGBTQI topics in the curriculum, citing negligence.
MUYAD Social Services stated it stands firm in protecting Ghana’s values and will support all efforts to remove LGBTQI content from the curriculum. “We call on all Ghanaians to reject this imposition and protect our children’s well-being,” the statement added.
The press release reflects ongoing debates about LGBTQI rights and education in Ghana. Ghana’s laws and societal norms generally oppose LGBTQI lifestyles, and there have been discussions about how to address these topics in educational contexts.
