The minority in parliament contributes very well to make parliament effective and efficient – NDC MP Hon. Joseph Azumah admits
Hon. Joseph Azumah, Member of Parliament for Adansi Akrofuom on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has highlighted the important role the minority in Parliament plays in ensuring an effective and efficient legislature.
According to Hon. Azumah, the minority serves as a vital check on government actions, promoting accountability, transparency, and balanced decision-making. He noted that through constructive criticism, alternative viewpoints, and detailed scrutiny of policies and bills, the minority helps improve the quality of legislation passed by Parliament.
The Adansi Akrofuom MP explained that a strong and active minority strengthens democracy by ensuring that diverse opinions are heard and that national issues are thoroughly debated before decisions are made. This process, he said, ultimately leads to better outcomes for the country.
Hon. Azumah emphasized that effective parliamentary work depends on mutual respect and cooperation between the majority and minority.
