Buy local, support farmers this Xmas & beyond – Briphildon Poultry MD appeals to Ghanaians

The Founder and Managing Director of Briphildon Poultry, Bright Philip Donkor, has called on Ghanaians to prioritize locally produced poultry such as chicken, guinea fowl, turkey, and ducks, as well as eggs from these domestic birds, this festive season and beyond.
In a statement released ahead of this year’s yuletide, Mr. Donkor emphasized that supporting domestic poultry farming strengthens the local economy, creates jobs for farmers and rural communities, and provides healthier, more nutritious food while promoting national food security and self-sufficiency.
He noted that Christmas is traditionally a period of high demand for poultry products, yet many households rely heavily on imported options. “By choosing locally produced poultry, Ghanaians are directly supporting farmers, creating jobs, and boosting the national economy,” he said.
*Significant contribution*
Mr. Donkor explained that local poultry farming contributes significantly to rural development, providing employment for farmworkers, feed suppliers, transporters, and marketers. “When you buy local, you ensure that money circulates within Ghana, helping smallholder farmers expand operations, adopt modern farming techniques, and deliver safe, high-quality products,” he added.
Highlighting nutritional benefits, he pointed out that local chickens and guinea fowl are often free-range and raised under natural conditions, which enhances their protein, vitamin, and mineral content. “Local poultry offers healthier options for families during festive feasts and daily meals,” he noted.
Mr. Donkor urged government agencies, private organizations, and civil society groups to intensify campaigns promoting “Made-in-Ghana” poultry products. He stressed that collective action will empower farmers and establish Ghana as a hub for high-quality poultry in West Africa.
“Supporting local poultry is not just a seasonal gesture for Christmas, or new year. It is a long-term investment in the nation’s development, health, and food security. Every chicken, guinea fowl, duck, turkey, or egg bought locally contributes to the growth of our farmers, our economy, and our communities,” he stated.
*Festive greetings*
The Briphildon Poultry boss further extended warm festive greetings to Ghanaians, wishing them a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2026.
“As we celebrate Christmas, I wish all Ghanaians peace, happiness, and prosperity. May the New Year 2026 bring new opportunities, growth, and success to every home across the country,” he said.
Mr. Donkor also urged families and communities to uphold the spirit of giving, sharing, and supporting local enterprises, emphasizing the role of collective efforts in national development.
