Lawyer Obiri Boahen has strongly dismissed claims suggesting that President John Dramani Mahama could seek a third term in office, describing something that can never happen in Ghana
Speaking on Kessben FM during a discussion hosted by Wofa Kofi Appiah, he stressed that Ghana’s 1992 Constitution clearly prevents any president from serving more than two terms.
“They are funny. President Mahama can never go for a third term as president in this country,” Lawyer Obiri Yeboah stated, emphasizing that the constitutional provision on term limits is unambiguous and firmly entrenched.
According to him, attempts to raise fears about a possible third-term agenda are merely political tactics aimed at creating unnecessary tension and confusion among the public.
He urged Ghanaians to rely on the Constitution rather than propaganda, noting that the country’s democratic framework is strong enough to safeguard against such violations.
