Kpandai By-Election: “NPP Will Lose If They Contest; the Party Is No Longer Attractive” – Lawyer Ohene-Gyan

Legal practitioner Lawyer Ohene-Gyan has stated that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) risks a decisive defeat if it contests the upcoming Kpandai by-election, insisting that the party has lost the political appeal it once enjoyed among the Ghanaian electorate.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Akua-Piesie , Lawyer Ohene-Gyan argued that current political conditions strongly favour the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“At this point, if it becomes a straight contest between the NDC and the NPP, the NPP will lose the by-election at Kpandai,” he said.
“Everything happening in the country shows that the NDC is now more attractive to the majority of Ghanaians.”
According to him, Ghanaians placed significant trust in the NPP during its years in power, but the party failed to meet the expectations of the public.
“Ghanaians trusted the NPP fully, but the party disappointed them. They did not improve the quality of life of the people,” he stated.
“Because of that, the NPP is no longer attractive, and it will be very difficult for them to win any by-election at this moment.”
The lawyer cited recent electoral outcomes as evidence of voter dissatisfaction, referencing the Ablekuma North rerun contest and Akwatia by-election , which he believes the NPP should have won under normal circumstances.
“Seats that were supposed to be safe for the NPP were lost. This shows clearly that Ghanaians are angry, and the NDC is overtaking constituencies that the NPP previously held,” he added.
He stressed that unless the by-election becomes solely a matter of personal relationships between individual candidates and their constituents, the national political mood strongly favours the NDC.
“Unless it becomes just about the candidate’s relationship with the people in the constituency, the NDC will win hands down,” Lawyer Ohene-Gyan concluded.
The Electoral Commission is expected to announce the official date for the Kpandai by-election in the coming days.
