NPP’s Presidential Elections Committee Assures Transparent Voters Register

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to a credible and transparent voters register, dismissing concerns over the provisional voters register as baseless.

According to a statement signed by Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu, Chairman of the PEC, the committee has maintained an open and consultative process with all presidential candidates and stakeholders to ensure the integrity of the party’s electoral process.

The provisional voters register has been shared with all candidates, allowing them to review and identify potential inaccuracies. The PEC has received constructive feedback and is working to effect timely corrections.

“The practice of releasing a provisional voters list prior to an election mirrors established national electoral norms,” the statement read. “Such publication serves a critical purpose: it allows individuals whose names may have been inadvertently omitted to raise objections for rectification, and permits the public to draw attention to errors, duplications, or ineligible entries.”

The PEC assured the party and the public of its commitment to producing a trustworthy voters register and conducting a free, fair, and transparent presidential primary.

The committee has invited stakeholders to submit concerns and observations, emphasizing its dedication to transparency and cooperation.

The statement urged all stakeholders to send their concerns, contributions, and observations to the Secretary, Presidential Elections Committee, NPP Headquarters, Asylum Down, Accra (Telephone: 0540466684).

The PEC’s assurance comes ahead of the NPP’s presidential primary, highlighting the party’s commitment to democratic principles and electoral integrity.
