Obuasi SWOOP: Some of the security men had smoked weed and treated us inhumanely – Dr. Mashood Abongo alleges
A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mashood Abongo, has recounted a disturbing experience during the recent security swoop in Obuasi.
Speaking in an interview on Kessben FM with KOD, he claimed that some of the security personnel involved in the operation appeared to have smoked weed and conducted themselves in an unprofessional and inhumane manner.
According to Dr. Abongo, he was among individuals affected during the swoop and described the conduct of certain officers as intimidating and excessive.
He alleged that the behavior of some security men suggested impaired judgment, leading to actions he believes violated the dignity and rights of residents.
He stressed that while security operations are necessary for maintaining law and order, they must be carried out within the confines of professionalism and respect for human rights.
Dr. Abongo called for a thorough review of the conduct of the personnel involved, urging authorities to ensure that such operations do not result in abuse or harassment.
