NPP Needs a Visionary Leader, Not Just a President – Kofi Tonto Declares

The Political Aide and Deputy Spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kofi Tonto, has emphasized that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at this stage in its political journey needs a visionary leader rather than just someone seeking the title of President.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Akua-Piesie Asare Bediako, Mr. Tonto stated that among all five aspiring presidential candidates within the NPP, Dr. Bawumia stands out as the one with a clear and practical vision for Ghana’s development.
According to him, the Bawumia campaign team has structured its engagement with delegates around three key messages.
“First and foremost, our task is to sell Dr. Bawumia to the delegates based on his competence, dedication, and unwavering commitment to serve both the party and the nation,” Mr. Tonto said.
He explained that the second priority of the campaign is to help delegates understand how a Bawumia-led NPP government would improve their welfare and create opportunities that directly benefit them, should the party comes to power.
The third aspect, he added, is to counter propaganda and false allegations aimed at tarnishing Dr. Bawumia’s reputation and credibility in the lead-up to the party’s internal contest.
Mr. Tonto noted that Dr. Bawumia’s campaign message is solid, practical, and focused on addressing the economic challenges facing ordinary Ghanaians.
He recalled that during previous NPP administrations, some delegates felt sidelined and did not benefit much from the government, which led to dissatisfaction within the party’s grassroots base.
“This time around, delegates will be the first to benefit when the NPP returns to power under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership,” he assured.
Mr. Tonto concluded by stressing that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia represents the future of the NPP and Ghana, describing him as a transformational leader with a long-term vision to modernize the economy and improve living standards across the country.
