NDC’s “Big Push”Agenda: A Comprehensive plan for Ghana’s Development – Dr. Isaac Tuffour

Speaking on Kessben Maakye, Dr. Tuffour emphasized the NDC’s commitment to addressing Ghana’s infrastructure deficit, noting the country’s current infrastructure index is below 50% which he described as a major impediment to national progress. He revealed the government plans to leverage Ghana’s rich mineral resources, including oil, to fund these crucial structural developments”.

Dr. Tuffour highlighted how the construction of roads will boost trade and economic activity. He cited the construction of new roads as a key strategy to reverse the decline in trade, offering the example of the outer ring road in the eastern quadrant of the Ashanti Region, which is intended to alleviate heavy traffic congestion. He also addressed the unfinished Suame Interchange project, initiated by the NPP Government but hampered by lack of funding, assuring that the NDC would ensure its completion as part of the “Big Push” initiative”.

The “Big Push” initiative extends to vital social sectors he said. Dr. Tuffour confirmed that while the education sector continues to receive funding through GETFUND, the NDC wants to do more. He added that the health sector was his major concern, particularly in the Ashanti Region, pointing out to rapid population increase in Kumasi as a factor necessitating urgent attention to healthcare facilities.

He expressed concerns regarding how the people all relied on the Manhyia Government Hospital”.
He pointed out thatthe NDC had plans to build and equip new hospitals.This initiative,he stated,would not only enhance healthcare access but also create significant employment opportunities for unemployed graduate nurses,effectively addressing two critical issues simultaneously.

Dr. Tuffour acknowledged some ongoing hospital projects at Afari and Sewua faced with delays due to misunderstandings between the government and contractors, but assured the public that efforts are underway to resolve these issues promptly.

The NDC communication team member also highlighted the government’s achievement in constructing a modern, well-covered market in Kejetia, which provides traders and shoppers with protection from the elements.The “Big Push” agenda is a holistic approach by the NDC government to tackle Ghana’s developmental challenges, promising a future where citizens can live comfortably through strategic and impactful projects across various sectors”.
