The fight against galamsey is a marathon: We are determined to fight galamsey – Mahmud Kabore

The Spokesperson For Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mahmud Kabore has assured Ghanaians on the determination of the NDC government to fight galamsey and protect the lives of people.

Speaking on Kessben TV with Kojo Preko Dankwah, he explained, about 4 million people are engaged in galamsey stating River Ankobra and the forest close to 90 structures have been burnt down, relating to galamsey, about 1,300 excavators have been impounded”

Mahmud Kabore stressed that 12 out of 16 regions are all mining regions and declaring the state of emergency will affect these regions

He revealed one challenge attributed with state of emergency being restricted movement for the disadvantage of state of emergency cannot be overlooked”

Mahmud shared the disbelief of people towards the efforts of Blue Water Guards in the fight of galamsey. He again touched on the target of training 2,000 people by the government adding the establishment of 12-member naval base at every district with blue water guards”
We have put in place measures that will turn our advertsities to advantage.

He said, CEO of GoldBold, Sammy Gyamfi has provided five haylou pickups and five million which will go a long way to intensify the fight against illegal mining”. The media has a critical role to play in the fight against galamsey.

The measures that have been put in place to fight galamsey is yielding good results, he states.
