Rising dollar, High costs hurting Ghanaians – NPP’s Jimmy Boakye Ansah

Ashanti Regional Communication Team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jimmy Boakye Ansah, has raised concerns about the rising cost of the dollar and its impact on traders and the economy.

Speaking on Kessben TV Kumasi, Mr. Ansah said traders are struggling to access dollars from the Bank of Ghana and commercial bank, forcing them to rely on unauthorized sources. He warned that this situation is unsafe and expensive, further increasing the cost of doing business.

He accused the government of wasting taxpayers’ money by organizing conferences to discuss how to stabilize the dollar but producing no meaningful results.

Mr. Ansah added that the government has also failed to address unemployment among the youth. He again reminded Ghanaians that under the previous NPP administration, programs such as NABCO created opportunities for young people to work while gaining experience.

He urged the government to take urgent steps to stabilize the economy and create jobs for the youth
He noted that although a levy is charged on every litre of fuel to stabilize prices, fuel costs keep rising, followed by increases in water and electricity bills as well as transport fares. There have been constant hikes in fuel prices, utilities, and transport fares. Ghanaians are really suffering, he said.
