President Mahama Announces Big Push Secretariat Under Office of the President for Infrastructure Monitoring

President John Dramani Mahama today announced the establishment of a dedicated “Big Push” Secretariat that will operate under the Office of the President to oversee the country’s ambitious $10 billion infrastructure initiative.

Speaking today Tuesday, 16th September 2025, the Big Push Roads Launch in the Volta Region, “REDEVELOPMENT OF ATIMPOKU- ASIKUMA – ANYRAWASI HO -DENU AFLAO ROAD (177KM).” President Mahama outlined the comprehensive monitoring system that will be put in place.

“We are setting up a big push Secretariat, which will be under the auspices of the Office of the President. We’re going to have engineers and others working there, and we’re going to keep monitoring the progress of all the projects,” the President stated.

The President explained that the secretariat will employ a hands-on approach to project oversight, with regular site visits and documentation.

“So they will visit the projects regularly, from time to time, at every stage to see the status of the projects. They will take pictures. They will take videos,” President Mahama said.

The monitoring system will utilize modern technology to provide real-time updates to the President’s office, allowing for unprecedented oversight of infrastructure projects across the country.

“And so I’ll be sitting in my office and I can see what first car is doing on the whole aflaw road. I can see what Oswald is doing on their dodwa Road, every contractor working on every road in this country. I’ll sit in Accra at the Flagstaff house, and I’ll see the work they are doing,” the President emphasized.

The Big Push initiative, which President Mahama described as having been “conceived sometime in 2020,” represents a major infrastructure investment with an initial allocation of 14 billion cedis for this year and 30 billion cedis planned for next year.

The establishment of the secretariat demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring accountability and timely completion of projects under the Big Push program.
