The Amenfi East MCE, Raymond Nana Ebbah is deeply involved in Galamsey, He unleashed thugs to beat up Bluewater guard team – NDC Chairman

Nana Kofi Atokyi, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Amenfi East, has made startling allegations against the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Raymond Nana Ebbah.
Speaking on Kessben FM with KOD, Atokyi claimed that the MCE is deeply involved in Galamsey (illegal mining) activities and that he orchestrated violence against the Blue Water Guards, a state‐sanctioned environmental and water‐body protection unit.
Atokyi asserts that behind the scenes, MCE Raymond Nana Ebbah is not simply neglectful of illegal mining but is actively complicit. According to Atokyi, this involvement has enabled ongoing galamsey operations in Amenfi East.
He claims the MCE “unleashed thugs” who assaulted members of the Blue Water Guards during their duties. The implication is that those enforcing environmental laws and protecting water bodies were physically attacked under the MCE’s watch or by his instigation.
The Blue Water Guards are part of Ghana’s broader strategy to protect rivers and water bodies from illegal mining operations. They serve alongside police, military, and other task forces in disrupting galamsey activity.
Amenfi East has had several reported incidents of galamsey equipment being seized or destroyed in operations by task forces, including the Blue Water Guards.
