All is set for the constituency primaries elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region.
Mr Samuel Pyne, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Kumasi that all arrangements with the Electoral Commission (EC) and the security agencies have been completed for the smooth conduct of the elections across the Region.
He said apart from the Juaben, Kumawu and Manhyia North Constituencies, which would not be voting on Saturday, elections in the Adansi-Asokwa, New Edubiase and Akrofoum Constituencies, have also been put on hold following petitions from the constituencies.
Mr Pyne said seven constituencies have their contestants going unopposed and there would be no contest, elections would be by acclamation.
He said so far 138 candidates would be contesting in the elections in the Ashanti Region, which has 47 constituencies.
Mr Pyne reminded the delegates that whatever they do during the elections on Saturday would have greater consequences for the party in the 2016 elections.
They should therefore vote candidates who would maximize the votes of the party in the 2016 elections whilst urging circumspection and good conduct during the elections.
