I was hired, and I delivered, I’m not a politician – Kalybos distances himself from NPP after campaigning for them

Ghanaian actor and comedian Richard Kweku Asante, better known as Kalybos, reflected on his role in campaigning for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2024 general elections, particularly championing the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.
Contrary to common narratives that celebrities align with parties for fame or financial gain, Kalybos highlighted that his involvement was deeply about professionalism.
“I was hired and I delivered. I’m not a politician,” he asserted, emphasizing that his campaign was driven by principle, not political ambition” He said on Kessben TV’s Music Plus with Mr Bonez.
His message was direct response to skeptics who suggest that celebrities chase perks when entering the political fray.
Reflecting on the broader implications, he sees his advocacy not as marketing, but as using his platform to promote a policy that changed lives, including his own.
