Rev Vincent Kankam cautions the brotherhood about how scammers use beautiful ladies’ DP on WhatsApp to lure them to send money

On the Friday edition of the popular “Food For Thought” on Kessben FM, renowned preacher and counselor Rev Vincent Kankam issued a timely and serious warning to men about a growing tactic used by online scammers, using attractive female display pictures (DPs) on WhatsApp to bait unsuspecting victims into sending money.

Rev Kankam highlighted that many scammers, both local and international, are now exploiting the emotional vulnerabilities and desires of men by setting up fake WhatsApp profiles with pictures of beautiful women.

These profiles usually initiate friendly conversations or flirtatious exchanges, building a false sense of connection and trust. Once the emotional hook is set, the scammer quickly shifts to requesting money, under the guise of emergencies, transportation, phone credit, or other fabricated needs.

“Be circumspect when you receive messages from unknown numbers with pretty faces as their DP. Not everything attractive is genuine, and not every ‘hello dear’ is a blessing,” Rev Kankam warned listeners.

He cautioned that many men have fallen prey to such tactics, sending mobile money or revealing sensitive information, only to later realize they were dealing with fake identities, often operated by fraud syndicates, not even by women at all.

Rev Vincent Kankam’s cautionary words reflect a broader concern about how quickly people, particularly men, can be manipulated through digital platforms.
