Politics is the act of making your selfish desire seem like a national interest – George Akom, Educationist

Speaking during a panel discussion on Kessben Maakye, George Akom described politics as “the act of making your selfish desire seem like a national interest

Akom, who is known for his critical but thoughtful perspectives on governance and education, explained that many politicians pursue personal ambitions under the pretense of serving the nation.

According to him, political rhetoric often masks self-serving motives.

He noted that while politics in its ideal form should be about representing collective interests and advancing public good, the reality has deviated significantly.

Akom emphasized that the political arena has become a space where individuals pursue personal gain, often using emotionally charged language and populist tactics to justify their actions.
