President Mahama pledges stronger Ghana-Eswatini bilateral ties as he hosts King Mswati III

Through investments and commerce, President John Dramani Mahama has promised to strengthen Ghana-Eswatini ties and economic collaboration.

President Mahama stated that the visit will provide a solid basis for future cooperation between the two nations during a high-level meeting with His Majesty King Mswati III at the Presidency in Accra.

“We believe that this visit would cement the ties and the relationship that exists between our two countries,” Mahama said.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, King Mswati III, the Ingwenyama of the Kingdom of Eswatini, landed in Ghana for a four-day state visit with the goal of enhancing bilateral relations. Chief of Staff Julius Debrah met him at Kotoka International Airport, and President Mahama and Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang entertained him at the Presidency.

President Mahama emphasized Ghana’s historic role in Africa’s liberation fight and its ongoing commitment to Pan-African unity during the summit, acknowledging the country’s record as the first country south of the Sahara to achieve freedom.

“Our first president, President Kwame Nkrumah, had actually talked of African unity over and over again. Unfortunately, the dream was not realised in his time. But I think that it behoves us as the leaders of today to do whatever we can to bring our countries even closer together.” He added.
