Another Kotoko legend, Alhassan Yussif, picks Mohammed Polo as Ghana’s Greatest Footballer of all time over Golden Boy Abdul Razak

Former Asante Kotoko player Alhassan Yussif has declared Mohammed Polo as the greatest footballer Ghana has ever produced, surpassing even the iconic Abdul Razak.

Yussif, who enjoyed a storied career with Kotoko and the Black Stars, lauded Polo for his artistry on the pitch, stating, “Mohammed Polo made watching football beautiful. He didn’t just play the game; he elevated it.” He emphasized that Polo’s dribbling skills and flair captivated fans and set him apart from his contemporaries. “For me, Mohammed Polo is Ghana’s greatest footballer of all time,” Yussif said in an interview with Tony Muntana on Kessben TV.

Polo, affectionately known as the “Dribbling Magician,” had an illustrious career with Hearts of Oak and the Black Stars. He was instrumental in Ghana’s 1978 Africa Cup of Nations victory and earned recognition as one of Africa’s top players during his time. His exceptional ball control and creativity on the field left an indelible mark on Ghanaian football.

While Abdul Razak, another Ghanaian football legend, was celebrated for his contributions to the national team, Yussif’s endorsement of Polo underscores the enduring admiration for the latter’s unique style and impact on the sport.

As debates continue, Mohammed Polo’s influence on the game remains a testament to his exceptional talent and the lasting impression he left on Ghanaian football.
