NDC Spain Branch Supports Suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo: Upholding Accountability and Integrity in Ghana’s Judiciary

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Spain Branch expresses its full support for the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo. This decision, though unprecedented, is a necessary step towards ensuring accountability and upholding the integrity of the judiciary, an institution that is foundational to the rule of law and democracy in our great nation.
The suspension of the Chief Justice is not a matter to be taken lightly. However, given the circumstances surrounding this action, we believe it is a prudent measure to maintain public trust in the judiciary and to ensure that justice is not only done but is seen to be done. The NDC Spain Branch is committed to the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance, and we stand firmly by these principles in our support for this suspension.
We understand that the judiciary plays a critical role in interpreting the law and ensuring that the other branches of government act within the confines of the Constitution. Therefore, any action that undermines the integrity of the judiciary has far-reaching implications for our democracy. By suspending the Chief Justice, President John Dramani Mahama’s administration is taking a bold step towards safeguarding the judiciary’s integrity and ensuring that justice is administered fairly and impartially.
The NDC Spain Branch calls on all Ghanaians, both at home and abroad, to support this initiative and to stand united in our quest for a judiciary that is beyond reproach. We believe that this action will ultimately strengthen the judiciary and enhance its credibility, both locally and internationally.
We also call on the relevant institutions to expedite the process of investigating the allegations against Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, ensuring that the process is transparent, fair, and in accordance with the law. It is crucial that the outcome of this investigation is determined based on the evidence presented and the principles of justice.
The NDC Spain Branch remains committed to the advancement of democracy, rule of law, and good governance in Ghana. We will continue to support initiatives that promote accountability and transparency in our institutions, including the judiciary.
Signed
Hanson Dartey
