EXCLUSIVE: Ogum bags $16,000 after getting ‘sacked’ from Kotoko – Details

Asante Kotoko has officially parted ways with head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, with the club confirming a mutual agreement to end his tenure. The Ghanaian giants are set to compensate the former coach with a package totaling $16,000, according to reports from Kessben Sports.

The compensation package includes three months’ worth of salary, amounting to $12,000, and an additional $4,000 as severance pay. The decision comes as Kotoko navigates a challenging phase of the Ghana Premier League season, with only six matches left before the campaign wraps up.

Prosper Ogum, who returned to Kotoko for a second stint ahead of the 2023/24 season, had a mixed run with the club. While he brought tactical discipline and glimpses of promise, recent form and off-field uncertainties seem to have contributed to the early termination of his contract.

In the wake of Ogum’s departure, Karim Zito is reportedly set to take over as interim coach for the remainder of the season. Zito, known for his extensive experience in Ghanaian football and work with the national youth teams, is expected to stabilize the team during this transitional period.

Kotoko currently sits 4th on the league, and with only six games remaining, the club’s management is hoping the change in leadership will help rally the team to finish the season strongly.

Stay tuned for more updates as Kotoko prepares to announce Zito’s appointment and gears up for the final stretch of the league.
